Know someone making a difference in Cincinnati? Nominate them for the Upstander Awards

Do you know someone helping others in big and small ways? Do you know someone making a difference in Cincinnati?

Nominate them for the 2023 Upstander Awards, brought to you by the Nancy & David Wolf Holocaust & Humanity Center. Nominations for the Nancy & David Wolf Holocaust & Humanity Center's 2023 Upstander Awards are now open through March 10.

The Upstander Awards recognize individuals in the region who embody what it means to be an upstander – standing up for themselves and others and impacting their community in ways that are great and small.

To qualify for the Upstander Awards, individuals must meet the following criteria:

  • A nominee must be at least 10 years old.
  • A nominee must live, study, or work within the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky region.
  • A nominee exhibits what it means to be an upstander.

Finalists for the 2023 Upstander Awards will be announced in April. They will be honored at a gala event at historic Union Terminal in June. Attendees will enjoy a celebration in Union Terminal’s breath-taking Rotunda, followed by music and a moving awards ceremony that will encourage you to make your own upstander mark.

Last year’s winners included an artist, doctors, a pastor, and other people making Cincinnati a thriving community.

“If you have an idea, if you see a gap, if you feel a passion or a calling to make a difference in some way, take the time to act on it,” said 2022 Upstander Awards Finalist Dr. Christian Gausvik. “Oftentimes we allow ourselves to be held back by self-doubt, or fear of failure. Place the fear aside, overcome the procrastination and find the people who will lift you up – they are out there.”

Union Terminal is home to the Nancy & David Wolf Holocaust & Humanity Center – an award-winning museum and nonprofit that examines the Holocaust through its local connection. Union Terminal is the site where numerous Holocaust survivors arrived by train to rebuild their lives in Cincinnati.
