Hoxworth Blood Center, University of Cincinnati and Cincinnati MINI have teamed up in a big way — giving away a new car — to say thank you to those helping with a big need.
To address the urgent need for blood and platelet donations, Hoxworth Blood Center and Cincinnati MINI are awarding one donor with a custom 2023 MINI Cooper. Enter to win by donating donating blood or platelets at any area Hoxworth location or drive. Tax, title and license fee will be covered for a maximum car value of $35,000.
Cincinnati MINI is also hosting a blood drive with Hoxworth Blood Center at Cincinnati MINI on August 12 from 10am-4pm.
Jackie Marschall, Public Information Officer of Hoxworth Blood Center, says that the organization wanted to find a new way to get people involved with blood and platelet donation, especially during the summer months when many people are busy with vacations and activities. "This is why we partnered up with Cincinnati MINI to offer something to donors that we have never offered before, a fully custom $35,000 MINI," she says.
"Cincinnati MINI is committed to showing the Tri-State that the MINI is so much more than a car," says MINI Marketing Director Louis Velazquez. "It's a lifestyle. The winner of our giveaway will have their choice of five different MINI models, so many exterior and interior color choices and combinations, and then put the finishing touches whether that's a hood or body stripes, specialty graphics on the roof or mirrors, the choices are endless. However they wish a brand new car made for them to look, we want to make it happen!"
Hoxworth Blood Center, an internationally-recognized leader in transfusion medicine, is the second oldest blood bank in the country. They serve more than 30 area hospitals and medical centers and collects more than 100,000 units of blood products to help save the lives of patients in area hospitals. "Because platelets are fragile, short-lived blood cells that are essential for normal blood clotting and must be transfused within five days of donation, it's necessary to have a steady, daily stream of platelet donors so our hospital partners have ample supply to help patients in the community,"Marschall says. "It’s important to note that more than half of the platelets collected by Hoxworth Blood Center are transfused at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center."
And right now, there's an urgent need for blood and platelet donations. "This allows us to reach new audiences that we may not have been reaching before and gaining new blood donors is extremely important to us right now," Marschall adds. "This promotion is a way for us to express our gratitude to our donors, and we couldn't have asked for a better partner than Cincinnati MINI."
To enter, individuals can donate blood or platelets at any Hoxworth Neighborhood Donor Center or Hoxworth blood drive now through September 16. You gain more entries the more you donate, and you can sign up for your donation time slot here.
