Amy on the Go: ABC Pediatric Therapy

My three kids keep me on my toes. But my seven-year-old daughter, Lola, has been walking on her toes ever since she started toddling around. I thought it was a phase she'd grow out of, or that maybe it was just from her trying to see what's on countertops and get into things, so I wasn't too concerned.

I recently did the Interactive Screening Tool on ABC Pediatric Therapy's website (it's free - check it out here) to make sure all my kids were on track with eating, language and movement. Results for all the kids came back saying they were on track with most things, but Lola's came back saying her toe-walking was something that needed some attention.

So, I brought her in to ABC for some work with a Physical Therapist. The therapist assessed her, gave her stretches to work on at home, taught us ways we can use sensory play to help, and helped me get special orthotics for her. Everyone at ABC was so helpful and informative, and they really made it fun for Lola - she's always asking when we get to go back to ABC! Now, Lola does her daily stretches, wears her orthotics and does the sensory play we learned at ABC -- and she is no longer walking on her toes! It was an amazing experience at ABC and I recommend it to all the parents I know!
