7 Ways to Punch, Climb, and Lift Your Way to Conquering Your Fitness Resolution

Hello, gorgeous.

Heading into 2019, did you make a New Year's resolution to lose weight and live a healthier life? (Pretty sure everyone I know has set this goal for themselves in years past.) You can do it! And don’t fear—we've put together a list of seven places to start that resolution off on the right foot. From gyms to group fitness to alternative workout options, any one of the options below will help you achieve your goal.

Be sure to click the links to get a closer look at each activity/gym, too.

Queen City CrossFit

18 W 7th Street (45202)

CrossFit has a bit of it all: weight lifting, aerobic activity, calisthenics, and the best part—it's competitive. Hit up Queen City CrossFit to push your limit and become part of the CrossFit community in 2019.

Aerial Cincinnati Circus Classes

6433 Wiehe Road (45237)

Take a class with Cincinnati Circus! Yes, you heard that correctly. Train with the professionals and learn the beginning steps of aerial fitness! Several classes are offered, and are designed for everyone—from beginners and children to advanced aerial acrobats.

The Punch House

3911 Reading Road (45229)

Punch your way to achieving your 2019 resolution by getting in shape at this North Avondale boxing gym. Don’t worry about not knowing what to do, either; they offer group classes and you can sign up with a personal trainer to show you the ropes. No matter your weight class, The Punch House will knock you into shape and make you look like Rocky doing it.

3475 E Kemper Road (45241)

Ever thought about climbing Mt. Everest? Yeah, me neither, but give me a temperature-controlled environment with professionals guiding me along the way and I'm in! No need to know the (literal) ropes, RockQuest has automatic belaying machines, and you can sign up for private or semi-private lessons. Now get climbing!

Barre Code

615 Main Street (45202)

Want a gym that gives you a little bit of everything and is located in the heart of the city? Well, Barre Code is just that. It's a mix of ballet, pilates, yoga, and strength training. They offer group fitness classes before you head into the office, on lunch breaks, and during post-work hours. The best part is there's no need for fancy workout shoes—you get to wear your socks!

105 Central Parkway (45202)

Maybe some days you need that extra push of encouragement to get you through your workout. Other days, you might just want to be left alone with a treadmill and AirPods. Which ever way you want it, the Downtown Cincinnati YMCA is your spot. With an array of workout options like group fitness classes, weights, cardio equipment, an indoor lap pool, and basketball court to name a few, the Y will surely have something for whatever mood you're in.

Urban Rangers

No address

Maybe the gym and membership fitness aren't your thing? Get out and walk the streets of our beautiful city, instead! Urban Rangers is an urban hiking group that'll get you exploring the city and its surrounding neighborhoods. Along the way, you'll learn about the history of the area as your guide points out interesting things during the walk. Urban Rangers is primarily a warm weather kinda thing, so follow them on Facebook to stay updated about when their first hike of the season will be.

Cheers to the New Year and the new you! Now go kick some butt in the gym and make 2019 your year to be fit, happy, and healthy!
