Tease the palate with a little heat, a little sweet, and some great whiskey with this easy and flavorful margarita spin.
This recipe uses a combination of Mixicles: Orange Blossom Pomegranate (found in our Distinctive Collection) and Jalapeño Citrus (available in a single-flavor pack as well as in our Essential Collection).
Traditionally, margaritas contain three ingredients: tequila, orange liqueur, and lime juice. In this recipe, we've swapped out the tequila for whiskey. The Orange Blossom Pomegranate cube stands in for the orange liqueur. And the Jalapeño Citrus cube brings the lime — plus some heat!
For a touch of smokiness, add a splash of mezcal. But why stop there? Rim the glass with chili-lime seasoning and garnish with a slice of pineapple or an orange wheel.
Better make two. This is one combination asking for an encore!
SPICY WHISKEY MARGARITA
- 1 Orange Blossom Pomegranate Mixicles cube
- 1 Jalapeño Citrus Mixicles cube
- 2 ounces whiskey
- Splash of mezcal (optional, but strongly recommended)
- Chili-lime seasoning rim; pineapple wedge or orange wheel for garnish (optional)
How to Mix:
Set the Mixicles cubes in a shaker to melt a bit while you prepare the glass with a chili-lime seasoning rim. Add the whiskey and a splash of mezcal to the shaker. Shake until you no longer hear the cubes rattling. Add ice, shake for 10 seconds more, and strain into a rocks glass filled with ice and rimmed with chili-lime seasoning. Garnish with a pineapple wedge or orange wheel.
