Kroger's On the Rhine Eatery: A cool place to hang out and eat all the things

What do you get when you take a food hall, mix in sleek beverages and outdoor patio, then add an urban event space? Kroger's On the Rhine Eatery is all of that and more -- plus free parking.

When Kroger's On the Rhine Eatery (OTRE) opened in September 2019, it was the first Kroger location in downtown Cincinnati proper since 1969. Located on the second floor of the grocer, the food hall is home to several local concepts: DOPE! Asian Street Fare, Decibel Korean Fried Chicken and Kroger’s 1883 Café & Bar. You order from each restaurant independently and then bring your food to the tables at the center. There's also an outside patio overlooking Central Parkway.

It's open seven days a week for delivery or pick-up, or dine in and hang out with several special events throughout the week. You can check out the website or social to see all the events, or you can host your own.

"You can rent our entire 7,000 square foot space for up to 225 guests, or rent our corner lounge area for smaller groups, business meetings, and personal events," says Nick Poulos, general manager for events at the OTR Eatery. "Whether you're here for a special event, or just grabbing lunch, parking in our attached parking garage is free, so that's always a great perk."

Speaking of events, there's a big event series at OTRE coming up: Bengals Nation, shooting every Wednesday 6:30-8:30 p.m. on-location starting this Wednesday, Sept. 7. “Kroger is thrilled to host Local 12’s Bengals Nation for a one-of-a-kind experience at the OTR Eatery as we cheer our hometown team to victory each week,” says Poulos.

The program will feature on-site special guests, including Bengals players. During the show taping, audience members will enjoy trivia contests, prize giveaways and a live DJ.

“We’re excited to present a show the caliber of Bengals Nation. It’s an exciting time for our AFC champions as they look to follow up on last year’s Super Bowl season," says WKRC’s Senior VP/General Manager Jon Lawhead. "As the Cincinnati Bengals station, we’re happy to bring Bengals Nation to Bengals fans every Saturday night on Local 12!”

Working in partnership with Kroger, the company is agreeing to provide the production venue at its new urban eatery. Tapings will take place on the following dates:

  • Sept. 7: Bengals vs. Steelers
  • Sept. 14: Bengals vs. Cowboys
  • Sept. 21: Bengals vs. Jets
