Buy or sell lightly-loved wedding goods at upcoming Wedding Resale Market

From decor and signage to favors and finishing touches, there's a lot of stuff that goes into making those wedding bells ring. Not only does the cost add up to buy these items new, but what do you do with it all when you're done?

Enter, the Devoted Wedding Resale Market. Think of it as a fancy flea market for everything wedding. Dozens of individuals set up booths with lightly-loved (and some brand new) items for sale, and attendees shop to get in on the goods.

"This event began in Columbus about eight years ago," says Kathy Piech-Lukas, the Creative Director and event planner extraordinaire at Devoted Cincinnati. "I brought it to Cincinnati in 2020, and it's been a huge success from the get-go. We now do three events per year, in the spring, summer and fall."

Piech-Lukas says examples of what you'll find include: arches, centerpieces, frames, flowers, candles, attire, jewelry, vases, stemware, cake cutters, table numbers, favors, card boxes, linens, chair covers, sashes and more. "It's great for the environment because you're reusing instead of buying new, and it really helps to keep your costs down," she shares. "Plus, it takes it off Facebook Marketplace and into a safer, in-person environment."

A few insider tips Piech-Lukas shares to make the most of this event:

  • Opt to be a VIP: The early bird gets the worm, and that's the biggest perk of being a VIP. Doors open a half-hour early at 10:30 a.m. for VIP ticketholders. "Everything is first come first served, so getting in early helps you snag the best finds," she adds.
  • You're buying from real people: Most of the sellers won't be able to process credit cards since they're not a business, so bring cash, Venmo, Paypal, Zelle, etc. Also, all sales are final.
  • Bring bags: Remember, you're buying from real people and not a retail location, so you'll want to bring bags or totes to carry the items you purchase.
  • Get a booth if you have items to sell: It's $40 a booth, and it includes a 6ft table with linen. All sellers keep 100% of transactions.

The next Devoted Wedding Resale Market is coming up Sunday, Nov. 20, 2022 at the Hilton Garden Inn, located at 5200 Natorp Blvd., Mason, Ohio 45040. Tickets to attend the show are $12 each for VIP tickets (entry to show 30 minutes before) or general admission is $6 each. General admission tickets are $10 at the door.
