Last year sent ripples through many lives. But as the waters calmed, brightness of a new day began to shine through. People had simplified their lives and spent more time with those who mattered most, while some completely changed course and began chasing a new horizon.

Kevin Schmidt aka Captain Kevin, was one of those people who started a new venture in the midst of the COVID outbreak.

Today he is the owner of SS Tiki Tours, offering private cruises on the Ohio River in Cincinnati.

"SS Tiki Tours was started last year during COVID with the 'Schmidt Show' for 6 passengers, a small group experience that ended up running 240 cruises," says Schmidt.

The demand for private river cruises grew and this year SS Tiki Tours is a boat named "Feeding Frenzy" that accommodates 18 passengers. It boasts an 8-foot picnic table and a tiki bar.

When you ride along with SS Tiki Tours and Captain Kevin, you can opt for a narrated tour during your sightseeing journey.

"Captains will help entertain and can even share the history of the river and sights along the way," adds Schmidt.

Another added perk of taking a private river cruise with SS Tiki Tours? You can bring along your own food and drinks, including your own alcohol. Plus, the boats can stop along the way at Riverside Bar & Grill or Newport Hooters/Beer Sellar.

You can also get down to the beat of your own drum with a provided Bluetooth sound system and karaoke with SS Tiki Tours.

Everything provided on the boat is US Coast Guard certified and includes cups, plates, utensils, garbage bags, hand sanitizer, and paper towels. Bathrooms are also on both boats, so you won't have to worry about making a pit stop along the way.

Perhaps the most important aspect of hanging out with SS Tiki Tours is that they can be as wild or laid back as you'd like. "All cruises are customizable, but the standard option is a leisurely 6-mile cruise down the Ohio River through downtown Cincinnati, under all the bridges, and as far as Paul Brown Stadium," says Schmidt.

SS Tiki Tours accommodates customers of all ages and sizes, and even customers of the furry kind.

"SS Tiki Tours is family-friendly but also great for birthday parties, bachelor/bachelorette parties, and corporate hangouts and teambuilding," says Schmidt. "We're also dog-friendly!"

Schmidt even allows those taking a cruise to decorate the boat 15-20 minutes before you pull away.

Fireworks and concert cruises are also available, and Feeding Frenzy can also hold a professional musician/entertainer, although that does count toward your total passenger count.
