Making bar soap began as a hobby for John Meyer, and it quickly blossomed into a business.
"I started making bar soap for my own sensitive skin five years ago and we just kept growing," he says.
Today, &Sundries is a handcrafted soapworks with a brick-and-mortar retail shop in East Walnut Hills, as well as a booming ecommerce site, offering products handcrafted in small batches using simple ingredients.
"We opened our store in East Walnut Hills just before the pandemic, and we've been busy ever since making new items fresh in our store," he says, adding that their shampoo bars are some of their most popular items. "They're a solid alternative to liquid shampoo -- great for travel."
They're all-natural, too. "These pressed bars are full of extracts, botanicals, Panthenol B-5, and a main ingredient derived from coconuts," he adds. "Super gentle and PH balanced for most hair types, these macaron-like bars lather like crazy when you swipe through your hair and massage like traditional liquid shampoos."
Shampoo bars are available online and in store in five scents, and all &Sundries products are paraben and phthalate free.
When you shop &Sundries, you'll find a variety of bath and beauty products including cold process bar soaps, sugar scrubs with a soap base, whipped soaps, salt bar soap, essential oils, essential oils shower steamer tabs, lotions, bubble bath, bath bombs, soaking salts, milk baths, wood wick candles, beard balms, beard oils, facial scrubs, shaving soap, and some spa essentials like robes, lavender neck wraps, and several other items from other small makers.
At &Sundries, you'll find that there are good ingredients without the harmful chemicals. "We provide a range of options that you can fall in love with a scent, explore, treat yourself, have fun, and create a bath time, shower time, or any time," says Meyer.
&Sundries is located in East Walnut Hills on Woodburn Avenue near the Madison and Woodburn intersection.
