Yellow Springs: A Day Trip Worthy of Your Ohio Bucket List

A mix of rural and urban, the delightfully unique town of Yellow Springs, Ohio boasts a thriving downtown with eclectic neighborhoods surrounded by farms and orchards that fill nearby markets with fresh local food. Downtown Yellow Springs
Connect with locals at a wide-ranging mix of shops and eateries. Sidewalk tables provide some solid people-watching opportunities while busker performances keep the festive vibes flowing (particularly on the weekends). For some slightly more formal entertainment, swing by the the Little Art Theatre, a beautifully renovated venue showing retro movies, first runs, and documentaries.

Glen Helen Nature Preserve
Dive into 1,000 acres of wooded land, complete with 400-year-old trees, gorgeous wildflowers, and waterfalls pouring over limestone cliffs. Take your time and savor every step along the 25 miles of footpaths... Just make sure to visit the one-and-only yellow spring and see where the town got its name!

Yellow Springs Brewery
Is local craft beer your thing? This local fave has 10 of their own creations on tap, with new and seasonal varieties popping up regularly. Play games or sit on the taproom deck, which sits right alongside the Little Miami Scenic Trail. Swing by in the evenings to chow down on regional fare from area food trucks, or hop over on the weekend for a free tour of the brewery (offered every Saturday at 4pm).

Young's Dairy
Homemade ice cream and cheese your treat of choice? Saddle up for a journey through a working dairy farm. The Dairy Store features casual family dining while the Golden Jersey Inn serves delicious homestyle favorites. With mini-golf, a petting zoo, a driving range, batting cages, train rides, a giant slide, and special events & festivals scheduled throughout the year, Young's is a day trip in & of itself.

Festivals and Art Shows
Flock to Yellow Springs for the Street Fair (which takes place in June and October), the Wool Gathering (going down in September), and Cyclops Fest (also in September). The village also has a wide variety of art experiences, including the Bronze Sculpture Trail, Yellow Springs Artist Studio Tour, myriad public art displays, and Art & Soul (which features live theatre, dance, and music).
