Wine, theater, and a quaint historic town on the river? Sounds like a fantastic Saturday afternoon to me.
Wind your way east and hit Maysville, Kentucky this Saturday, June 8, for their 17th Annual Maysville Uncorked. The event is hosted by and benefits the Maysville Players, the oldest theatrical group in Kentucky. Their home is the Washington Opera Theatre, which is the fifth oldest continuously-run theatre in the nation. Uncorked brings together wine, art, music, and the scenic city of Maysville in one fun event where there’s truly something for everyone.
Running from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Maysville welcomes wineries, distilleries, and breweries from all over the state to come to Middle Market Street—the exact center of town—where you can enjoy the historic city while sipping on your wine, beer or bourbon.
Featured wineries include:
- 1922 House Vineyards & Winery
- Horse Shoe Bend Winery
- Redman’s Farm Winery
- Wildside Winery
- Baker Bird Winery
- Stonebrooke Winery
Maysville is now a part of the “B-Line”, the Northern Kentucky Bourbon Trail, so of course there is bourbon from nearby Boone County Distillery and Old Pogue Distillery, which is right in the heart of Maysville. Maysville Brewery will also be featured for fans of beer.
There’s not only wine, beer, and bourbon but there is art and music: from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., the Positive Movement Band from Lexington will perform their own brand of R&B, Blues and Motown music (bring a chair—but you won’t sit too long as they really get a crowd up and dancing!) and local artists will be on hand for you to purchase their own handmade items. If you’re hungry, there will be several food vendors, as well as the restaurants of Maysville open for your enjoyment.
Uncorked commemorative wine glasses will be available for purchase for $5. Tastings are $10 for five wine or 10 beer tastings.
