When we first visited Otherworld in Columbus in 2019, we discovered a massive space filled with art installations that led guests through dreamy, interactive scenes. The exhibit hasn’t strayed much from its wonderfully immersive experience since then, but there are plenty of new and exciting features to explore. ADDRESS: 5819 Chantry Drive (Columbus) / Image: Catherine Viox // Published: 8.6.20
Otherworld displays the works of over 40 artists in the 32,000-square-foot, 47-room space. Guests are not only allowed, but encouraged to interact with the art and the surroundings of each environment to uncover hidden details. The rooms are essentially mixed reality playgrounds illuminated by 54 projectors and 190,000 LED lights. / Image: Catherine Viox // Published: 8.6.20
Recent additions include new rooms such as a janitor’s closet, a wild hallway, a room of mirrors and antique furniture, and a retro comic-themed room with a coffin inside that controls the color of the room. There are a few other smaller spaces with interactive pieces throughout the experience that have received updates, as well. / Image: Catherine Viox // Published: 8.6.20
It’s currently open Thursday and Friday from 11 AM to 10 PM, Saturday from 10 AM to 10 PM, Sunday from 10 AM to 8 PM, and Monday from 11 AM to 8 PM. Reservations must be made in advance online (OtherworldOhio.com). Employees and guests are both required to wear masks, and increased surface cleaning procedures are in place. Sanitizing stations are also set up throughout the exhibit. / Image: Catherine Viox // Published: 8.6.20
