Cincy Red Bike, the popular bike-share program that originally hit city streets in September 2014, recently added a fleet of eBikes (electric-assisted bicycles) to the +50 docking stations scattered around town. While they require the rider to pedal, the eBike dramatically reduces the effort it takes to get around thanks to an internal battery-powered motor. The motor is activated by simply pedaling the bicycle after turning on the battery. The power button is on top of the LCD screen on the left handlebar. Thanks to the electric assist, riders can tackle Cincinnati's many hills and ride longer distances without tiring out as easily. There is no up-charge to use an eBike; if you have a daily/monthly pass or a yearly membership, normal bikes and eBikes are available to use. For information on pricing and how to rent a Red Bike, visit CincyRedbike.org / Image: Phil Armstrong // Published: 7.13.19

Yes, we rode to the top of Sycamore Hill for this shot. No, it wasn't impossible. In fact, it was relatively low-effort thanks to the eBike. / Image: Phil Armstrong // Published: 7.13.19
