The Greek Revival home was built in 1858 by a local resident named John Williams, who built it for his son as a wedding gift. When the wedding fell through, the house went to his daughter Caroline, who was married to Cynthiana Sheriff R.T. Lindsay. It has hosted many families over the last 150+ years and is said to have even housed wounded soldiers during the Civil War. When the Owen family purchased the home in 1941, they made changes such as painting the house white and adding a dining room, a veranda, and columns to the front. Fast forward to 2015, the home was purchased by Sonia Kirkman with the goal to open Ashford Acres Inn with her sister, Anastasia Hicks. Renovations were done by Phase IV contractors. / Image: Catherine Viox // Published: 11.30.20
