<p>PLACE: New River in West Virginia / DISTANCE: 300 miles southeast of Cincinnati, a five-hour drive / West Virginia's New River Gorge provides spectacular views year-round, but it is particularly dramatic during fall's explosion of colors. The Gorge has more than 100 species of native hardwoods including maple, beech, birch, oaks, ash, walnut, cherry, box elder, poplar, and elm. All of them contribute to the riot of fall colors. PLACE: Brown County State Park, IN / DISTANCE: 110 miles west of Cincinnati, a little over 2-hour drive / A lookout tower in Indiana's Brown County State Park. At 15,696 acres, the state park is the largest in Indiana. Inside the park, Weed Patch Hill stands at an elevation of 1,058 feet.
