The Manufactory is a 17,000-square-foot membership workshop in Sharonville that's packed with equipment and tools for any of your project needs, big or small. From serious projects for your business such as sign-making to fun projects like building a BattleBot, you can create it here with plenty of help and inspiration all around you from other members. ADDRESS: 12055 Mosteller Road (45241) / Image: Elizabeth A. Lowry // Published: 7.17.20
It opened in February 2014 in part of the space that occupies Lee Printers—a general commercial printing company. President and owner Lee Krieg built the space alongside his father and brother, cobbling together machines they had from various businesses, as well as those purchased at auctions and elsewhere. It’s open Mondays and Saturdays 10 AM to 6 PM, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 10 AM to 10 PM, and is closed on Sundays and Wednesdays. / Image: Elizabeth A. Lowry // Published: 7.17.20

The workshop is one of the only fully equipped maker spaces in the area and offers a vast array of equipment and tools, from welders and laser engravers to paint booths and sheet metal brakes. "Since very few people have access to the wide variety of equipment and tools that we have available, our shared workshop model allows access to industrial equipment that is out of reach for most people," Lee explains. / Image: Elizabeth A. Lowry // Published: 7.17.20

Members include artisans, inventors, hobbyists/tinkerers, and people with businesses. Lee says some people come in with a single purpose, like welding a broken part on their lawnmower, while others come in with a vague idea of something they want to create, like turning a piece of driftwood into a lamp. They’ll talk to others about the project and it may be weeks before they actually start work. Memberships to The Manufactory vary. For more information, visit the website (themanufactory.us) or call them at (513) 771-3605. / Image: Elizabeth A. Lowry // Published: 7.17.20

You do not need to be a member to take available classes in the workshop, though anyone who is a member is required to first take safety training classes on the tools or equipment they’ll be operating. "We teach a wide variety of skill levels,” says Lee, “Sometimes we have a certified master welder taking a class alongside someone that knows little more than 'welding makes sparks.' Everyone takes the same safety training regardless of their experience level." / Image: Elizabeth A. Lowry // Published: 7.17.20

Lee says the laser cutter/engraver is by far the most popular piece of equipment at The Manufactory currently. Most use it to create something artful that would sell on Etsy, but others use it for creating architectural models, signs, wedding invitations, engraving wine glasses and bottles, and leatherwork. People come up with new and different things every day. / Image: Elizabeth A. Lowry // Published: 7.17.20
