You might not know it, but there’s a ninja among us. He’s the Nati Ninja, to be exact. His name is James Wilson. And he really is a ninja… well, an American Ninja Warrior. Wilson has appeared on four seasons of the NBC show, dating back to season six which aired in 2014.
The Cincinnati native played football and ran track at La Salle High School. Thus, it should come as no surprise that he has the speed and agility for the obstacles on the ninja course. Plus, he’s a personal trainer at TriHealth Pavilion. So yeah, Wilson is the perfect specimen to compete—to run up a warped wall or leap from a rope swing onto a pull-up bar. Watching him in action is impressive. … Understatement of the year.
But you want to know what’s more impressive? It’s the ninja training facility he opened in November 2017 in Blue Ash. It’s the community of ninjas he’s created who are so positive and welcoming that even if you have zero flexibility, physical awareness, or endurance, they will be there to support you, spot you, and, ultimately, cheer you on when you successfully survive the rumbling dice obstacle.
These ninjas push each other to get better at the obstacle course, yeah. Though it really seems like they push each other to be better in a lot of other ways. Yes, we're talking about the Kumbaya friendships you see on TV but don't believe exist in real life. It seems they do exist. Perhaps you didn't know where to look. Answer: Blue Ash, of all places.
So if you’re interested in joining this ninja community, there’s a floating board or spinning wheel waiting for you. The gym has a variety of membership offerings, from a full-on commitment to drop-in rates to punch cards to specific Ninja Training programs.
