Here’s a bit of good news that may have escaped your attention: This year’s Party in Plaid celebrates 30 successful years of Caracole providing services for the HIV+ community in Greater Cincinnati.
But the nonprofit’s role isn’t the same as it was back in 1987. After all, neither is an HIV/AIDS diagnosis. The disease is now manageable with medication, and Caracole’s role has broadened accordingly.
That “continuum of care” you hear so much about these days? Caracole’s part of it, offering comprehensive housing programs as well as medical case management and pharmacy services. Caracole’s role is always expanding too. In 2016, the nonprofit began offering free, confidential or anonymous HIV and Hepatitis C testing.
But how can you support Caracole? Glad you asked.
PARTY IN PLAID: UNDER THE SEA EDITION
Party in Plaid is a great way for the community to play a vital role in Caracole’s mission. The annual August event is circled and circled again on the calendars of Cincinnati’s socialites. And for good reason, as it’s that rare perfect fusion of philanthropy and fun, of merriment and munificence, of good times and good will.
What? Party in Plaid Plunges Under the Sea (yes, that’s the full name) will feature live music, cocktails, dinner-by-the-bite by Jeff Thomas Catering, and exciting entertainment from choreographer Heather Britt. Guests will then dance the evening away with music from DJ Pillo.
This year’s event honors Caracole’s first Executive Director, Sue Butler, along with longtime supporters Christ Church Cathedral, Mark Haggard, and Dan Brown.
When? Saturday, August 26, 2017. The cocktail reception gets underway at 6:30 p.m., while dinner-by-the-bite begins at 7:30 p.m.
Where? Cincinnati Masonic Center Ballroom, 317 East Fifth Street, Downtown Cincinnati.
Theme? That’s where the “Under the Sea” thing comes from. Dress in your best Plaid and “Under the Sea” attire!
Silent Auction? Party in Plaid's signature silent auction returns with a South of France getaway, exquisite pearl necklace, a package to Music Hall’s Grand Reopening, Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade tickets, Jim Obergefell Painted Platters, and much more.
Tickets? Purchase tickets here, or by calling 513.761.1480.
See you there you beautiful Cincinnatians!
