Family-owned and operated Bizarre Bazaar is a rare breed of shop to explore. Located in a strip mall in Anderson Township, Bizarre Bazaar stocks interior decor, jewelry, gift items, kids clothes and toys, books, greeting cards, and loads of seasonal decor. Owner Maureen Searcy has been running the shop since the late-80s, and the vast majority of those years have been spent in the current Anderson location. She hand-picks and purchases all of the items in the store from over 200 different vendors, then artfully themes different areas of the shop with those items. Walking through Bizarre Bazaar is a treat for the eyes. Every inch of the shop is decorated with carefully curated items, creating a cozy shopping labyrinth for visitors to explore. Different sections of the store are home to themed items: in the front, white and gold-colored items; in the back, more rustic, farming-themed items; and in the middle, a mix of nautical, bohemian, and contemporary items (among others). / Image: Phil Armstrong, Cincinnati Refined // Published: 12.3.20
Bizarre Bazaar's collection doesn't just target one aesthetic. Regardless of your tastes, you're bound to find something exquisite on the shelves if you look for it. That's by design, too. Maureen's expert ability to refine the store's offerings is one of the many reasons she's been in business for over 30 years. If you pour over its many corridors and nooks, you'll stumble upon something you didn't know existed but must have in your home. / Image: Phil Armstrong, Cincinnati Refined // Published: 12.3.20
Visiting the shop is a special experience other retailers simply don't provide. Items in the bazaar are designed to make you feel good, and the presentation of those items is thoughtful and intentional. It's more than just a simple place to get a gift—it's a fun, unique place staffed by friendly people who want you to enjoy being there as much as they enjoy your visit. / Image: Phil Armstrong, Cincinnati Refined // Published: 12.3.20
The folks at Bizarre Bazaar place emphasis on customer service. They offer a smile and a greeting when you come into the shop, and assist with finding the right item if you need help. That personal connection isn't something you often get when shopping online or at big-box department stores. / Image: Phil Armstrong, Cincinnati Refined // Published: 12.3.20
There's a whole section dedicated to young children and babies with stuffed animals, figurines, books, clothes, and other age-appropriate items. / Image: Phil Armstrong, Cincinnati Refined // Published: 12.3.20
