With October in full swing, what better time is there to read up on all of the spooky stuff you can find? We went on an adventure to bring you five creepy, local urban legends that every spooky stuff lover will enjoy! / Image: Taylor Harris // Published: 10.7.20
LEGEND 1: The Delhi Park Ghosts: Legend has it that the ghosts of two men who drowned in Delhi Park’s Clearview Lake, show up after dark and will follow you around until you leave the park. / Image courtesy of RapidEye via GettyImages // Published: 10.7.20
LOCATION: Delhi Park, the alleged home of the two ghosts, is located in Delhi Township on Foley Road. / Image: Taylor Harris // Published: 10.7.20
Clearview Lake is located near the entrance of the park. No one seems to know who the two men that drowned here were, or why their ghosts still hang around after dark. / Image: Taylor Harris // Published: 10.7.20
We decided to walk on one of the trails that led to a little forest in the park. While we weren’t followed by any ghosts, this was definitely not somewhere we’d want to be late at night! / Image courtesy of Daniel Werner via GettyImages // Published: 10.7.20
LEGEND 2: The Cincinnati Waxman: The Cincinnati Waxman is said to be an older man who drove his Cadillac to a local junkyard every night around midnight. Curious teens would try to follow him to see what he was up to, but he always knew when they were tailing him. He would time traffic lights perfectly or play tricks on his pursuers to lose them. Those who claim to have caught a quick glimpse of him say his face looked like it was made of wax. / Image courtesy of Pixabay // Published: 10.7.20
LOCATION: Some claim the Cincinnati Waxman was frequently seen somewhere off of Salem Road in Mt. Washington. / Image: Taylor Harris // Published: 10.7.20
We drove up to check out Salem Road a little earlier than the Waxman is said to be out and about. He hasn’t been seen in a while so we weren’t too concerned either way! / Image: Taylor Harris // Published: 10.7.20
Some people believe that this guy was just a regular man who simply noticed the kids following him and decided to make the most of it by playing a few tricks on them. Maybe so, but the legend surrounding him sounds pretty cool, too! / Image courtesy of Zeferli via GettyImages // Published: 10.7.20
LEGEND 3: The Loveland Frogman: Probably a more well-known legend, sightings of The Loveland Frogman date back to the 1950s, with the most recent sighting happening in 2016! / Image: Taylor Harris // Published: 10.7.20

LOCATION: Locals claim to have seen the Frogman around the city of Loveland and near the Little Miami River. The two most popular sightings happened in the 1970s when two Loveland police officers had encounters with it, and again in 2016 while a man was playing Pokemon GO around Lake Isabella. / Image courtesy of the Loveland Beacon // Published: 10.7.20
One of the Loveland officers later came out to say the whole thing was a hoax, citing that some of his story about the encounter was left out and that it had really been an iguana he saw. Many believe he may have said that in response to the criticism he received back when he first reported his sighting or because he was tired of everyone asking him about it. / Image: Taylor Harris // Published: 10.7.20
We took a stroll off of the beaten path of Loveland’s Little Miami Bike Trail to see if the area would be fit to house the giant frog-like creature. / Image: Taylor Harris // Published: 10.7.20
As we got closer to the Little Miami River it was easy to see why the Frogman was spotted around the area. Frogs spend a lot of their lives by the water, so this spot is the perfect habitat. / Image: Taylor Harris // Published: 10.7.20
While we didn’t run into the Loveland Frogman this time around, we think we’d call this place home if we were him too! / Image: Taylor Harris // Published: 10.7.20
LEGEND 4: The Pond Run Road Hook Man: Legend has it that when the Pond Run Road Hook Man was a kid, his cruel parents kept him chained up in their home. During a storm, lightning struck the house causing it to burn down. The bodies of his parents were found, but all that was found of him was one hand. / Image courtesy of Lumase via GettyImages // Published: 10.7.20
LOCATION: Pond Run Road is located in the village of New Richmond in Clermont County. / Image courtesy of Rev. Ronald Irick and HMdb.org // Published: 10.7.20
Pond Run Road was a popular lovers lane spot in the ’60s. Unfortunately, this road would become the home of the Hook Man’s first victims. By the late ’90s people who drove on the road said they experienced weird things like cars with no driver following them or the temperature dropping after they’d mentioned the Hook Man by name! / Image: Taylor Harris // Published: 10.7.20
Even though Pond Run Road has several houses on it, some stretches of it still seem kind of eerie. / Image: Taylor Harris // Published: 10.7.20
Pierce Preserve and Trails is just off of Pond Run Road. Maybe this is where the Hook Man’s old house stood before it burned down. / Image courtesy of Facebook user Allan Claybon // Published: 10.7.20
We ended up having to cut our trip here short when we noticed a black truck following us the entire time we were on the road. We couldn’t tell if it was without a driver like the legend claims, but we weren’t going to stick around long enough to find out! / Image courtesy of Mypurgatoryyears via GettyImages // Published: 10.7.20
LEGEND 5: The Crosswick Monster: The Crosswick Monster has been described as a large lizard that is over 12 feet tall. Different stories claim it stood up on two legs, had legs but no arms, had only arms, or slithered like a snake! / Image courtesy of tunart via GettyImages // Published: 10.7.20
LOCATION: The Crosswick Monster was first seen near a small creek just south of Crosswick, Ohio. Crosswick is located in central Wayne Township in Warren County. / Image courtesy of waynetownship.us // Published: 10.7.20
In 1882 the Crosswick Monster made itself known for attacking two boys that were out fishing in a creek. The giant lizard charged at the boys, caught one of them, and tried to drag him away. After a failed attempt, over 60 men from Crosswick went looking for the creature to kill it. Once they found it, it ran away never to be seen again. / Image courtesy of bauhaus1000 via GettyImages // Published: 10.7.20
Some people believe the Crosswick Monster was nothing more than a monitor lizard or a komodo dragon that attacked the boys at the creek that day. It hasn’t been seen since then so we’ll never know unless it decides to make another appearance! / Image courtesy of kiwisoul via GettyImages // Published: 10.7.20
