A High-Quality Reno in Northside Is the Product of a Dynamite Married Couple

Everyone knows Northside is one of the hottest home markets in the Cincinnati area at the moment. If you’ve been dreaming of buying there, 1527 Lingo Street is ready for you.

The house was completely renovated by husband and wife duo John & Alicia Stoughton. John runs Team B Architecture and Design, and Alicia is a realtor with Keller Williams Advisors and runs the Real Estate Design Group (RED Group). They purchased the property from the Hamilton County Land Bank—a group dedicated to putting abandoned and neglected properties back into productive use.

The Stoughtons had their work cut out for them. They had to tear about 20% of the property down and completely deconstruct and reconstruct the rest. The result? A truly amazing house.

The new and improved Lingo residence features three bedrooms, two and a half baths, and two stories of contemporary, comfortable living space. There are gorgeous, solid hardwood floors throughout. Vaulted ceilings and skylights make the home feel open and light. The kitchen has all new fixtures and appliances with the perfect layout for any home chef. You won’t have to worry about the furnace breaking or the roof leaking right after you move in—the home features all new HVAC, plumbing, electric, roof, windows, siding, and insulation—whew!

And let’s talk about the outdoor living space. There’s a fenced-in backyard and a roof deck, which are true luxuries in any urban neighborhood. The house is but a few blocks from the heart of the Northside business district, as well.

When you think of “flipped” houses, you probably don’t think of the stunning, high-quality work that Team B and RED group did here. Alicia says that’s intentional. “We are very particular on quality, design, and being good stewards of these older homes,” she says. “Many times, ‘flipped’ homes get a bad reputation for their lack of design and professional oversight and I am hoping to change that.”

And Lingo is just one of many houses the Stoughtons are working on. Alicia says, “We are finishing renovating our second rental and are starting construction on two other [houses], including one for ourselves, all in the neighborhood. I am currently designing 12+ homes across the city in various stages of construction. It is especially rewarding when John completes the architecture, as I also am able to work with him to come up with the most marketable layout. We really enjoy working side by side this way, marking up drawings and moving things around until we get it right.”

The Stoughtons’ love and passion for their work is evident in the details. Check out the gallery above to take a tour through this fabulous home. It’s on the market for $389,900
