Just because we could only think of 10 doesn't mean there isn't an 11th. The following are presented in no particular order. Here's to hoping the new year is different than the last. / Image: Phil Armstrong // Published: 12.31.20

Covington Yard in (you guessed it) Covington and Bridgeview Box Park at Newport on the Levee both opened this year. Both locations feature loads of outdoor seating, food, and drinks. They were particularly enjoyable when the weather was warm, and we're looking forward to revisiting them again when it's not 16 degrees outside. / Image: Catherine Viox // Published: 12.31.20

The Reds made franchise history in November this year when pitcher Trevor Bauer won the National League Cy Young Award. Bauer received 27 of the 30 first-place votes for the award. The annual award has been given to outstanding pitchers since 1956. The Cincinnati Reds, the oldest team in major league baseball, didn't have a Cy Young Award winner until this year. /{ }Image: Phil Armstrong // Published: 12.31.20

This year saw the opening of the Cincinnati Art Museum's new staircase that's open to the public. The 9-story staircase blends form with function, giving pedestrians an attractive and convenient route up to the Art Museum from the corner of Eden Park Drive and Gilbert Avenue. We checked it out when it first opened and it's since had artwork added to the grounds. /{ }Image: Phil Armstrong // Published: 12.31.20

Bockfest was the last major event we attended before the shutdown, and boy was it a good one. The snow during the parade made everything feel magical and more fun despite the cold, and meeting up with friends at the Moerlein Tap Room (RIP) and Bockfest Hall was great as always. Looking back, we're glad we got to experience one of the best events of the year despite how the rest of 2020 ended up. /{ }Image: Phil Armstrong // Published: 12.31.20

Loads of bars and restaurants were allowed to sell mixed drinks to go this year due to the shutdown. Though we all want the virus to go the way of the Dodo sooner than later, we hope to-go cocktails stick around forever. / Image: Catherine Viox // Published: 12.31.20

The College Hill Community Urban Redevelopment Corporation organized an awesome drive-in theater event over Memorial Day weekend. Movies were projected onto the back of the theater after dark for parked movie-goers to enjoy. Because of the popularity of that initial weekend event, they continued showing movies outside through the rest of June. Like the to-go drinks we mentioned previously, it would be great to see this COVID-safe tradition stick around post-COVID. / Image: Catherine Viox // Published: 12.31.20

If you have a pet, you know how nice it's been to spend more time with them. Because we work primarily from home now, seeing our dogs and cats so often is one of the unexpected bonuses to being quarantined. /{ }Image: Phil Armstrong // Published: 12.31.20

When the Brent Spence Bridge was shut down on November 11, we didn't know how long it'd be before that main artery of traffic would reopen. Semis were hauling their wares up and down Mainstrasse, across the Roebling Bridge, clogging up the roundabouts, and traffic in and around northern Covington and the west side of Downtown was unbearable. Thankfully, construction crews were able to repair and reopen the bridge in a little over 40 days since the collision. We're not structural engineers, but that seems like a grand feat to us. Lets hope that never happens again... /{ }Image: Phil Armstrong // Published: 12.31.20

Though we've always been fans of Cincinnati parks, we got to know them intimately this year. Not only did we hang out at our favorite parks, but we also discovered new ones in and around Cincinnati. When the best and safest thing you can do outside the house is check out a park, Cincinnatians have loads from which to choose. /{ }Image: Phil Armstrong // Published: 12.31.20

Businesses got creative with their approach this year. We saw loads of pop-ups spring to life as a result of the pandemic. Milkman, a donut and shake pop-up, opened inside Revolution Rotisserie in Pleasant Ridge. Fleurish Grounds, a plant pop-up shop, opened in owner Christine Kim's garage in Madisonville. New Riff's pop-up bar on their rooftop in Newport was super cool, as was Homemakers Bar's Outpost pop-up in the lot behind the building. And who can forget the daiquiri and snacks pop-up at Lonely Pine Steakhouse? Have we said pop-ups enough yet? Pop-up. /{ }Image: Catherine Viox // Published: 12.31.20
