HI FI YOGA is a high-intensity yoga and aerial yoga studio in Mason that opened in November of 2018. Yogis of all ages and skill levels are invited to try the boutique yoga experience with music at its core. Owners Lori Allen and Tommy Moorman opened HI FI to be a studio that focuses on the physical practice of yoga to challenge the mind and body in a fun space with a refreshing playlist that sets the perfect tone for each class. ADDRESS: 7900 Mason Montgomery (45040) / Image: Elizabeth A. Lowry // Published: 3.5.20
In naming the studio “HI FI,” the owners wanted music to be front-and-center to the practice, motivating students while keeping the class fun and lighthearted. You'll hear music from Jimi Hendrix to Halsey and everything in between. Instructors hand-pick songs to tailor a soundtrack for a specific class. “It is a bit time consuming, but worth it when our students are feeling good vibes because the music is LIT!" Moorman says. / Image: Elizabeth A. Lowry // Published: 3.5.20
Hot yoga is offered in the studio. Moorman believes hot yoga is better for cleansing the body of impurities, to lengthen muscles, and to challenge the mind to overcome mental and physical adversity. The room is heated with infrared heat panels instead of space heaters. Oh, and there's a humidifier too, so it can get extra hot in there. / Image: Elizabeth A. Lowry // Published: 3.5.20
The 3,000-square-foot studio is purposely built with the community in mind, which is why there is a dedicated space for students to hang out before/after class to build new connections. "We hoped to create a space where our members felt like family," Moorman says. / Image: Elizabeth A. Lowry // Published: 3.5.20
"Most yoga studios teach at an introductory level and will not encourage students to try inversions or arm balances for fear of scaring people away. We don’t want our students to feel intimidated, but rather to feel inspired by what they see other yogis doing in class and be willing to give it a try," Moorman says. / Image: Elizabeth A. Aside from their weekly class schedule, HI FI also hosts workshops, events, and trainings. They have yoga on Sundays at Sonder Brewing from 9 to 10 AM with brunch afterwards. They also plan to host yoga at Urbana Cafe's Pendleton location, workshops like Flight School (based around arm balances and inversions), Intro 2 Power Yoga, and Fundamentals of Aerial Yoga. Instructor training is available, as well. / Image: Elizabeth A. Lowry // Published: 3.5.20

Aerial yoga is practiced with the aid of nine "silks" suspended from the ceiling. These silks support your body in various poses while you are suspended from the ground. Allen and Moorman wanted to include aerial in their studio because they recognize you can only go so far on your mat physically. The style of yoga allows you to go deeper into poses and stretches, making it ideal for people with tight backs, shoulders, hamstrings, or hips. It can also be a game-changer for people who struggle with flexibility or injuries. / Image: Elizabeth A. Lowry // Published: 3.5.20
