Having an upscale bar and restaurant, a burger and breakfast place, and an ice cream parlor all in one Covington spot sounds too good to be true, but it isn’t. FIRE, Biscuits to Burgers, and Butler’s Pantry are all located at 50 E Rivercenter Boulevard in a small, tasty block of eateries that reside in the RiverCenter structure. Free parking for patrons is even available in a lot right across the street. The restaurants are all owned and operated by Bill Butler. The one-of-a-kind restaurants were his own, original concepts. / Image courtesy of RiverCenter Entertainment // Published: 6.20.19

Covington's RiverCenter Has a Trio of Great Restaurants Owned by Just One Dude

There’s a scrumptious stretch of eateries along Rivercenter Boulevard in Covington, adjacent to the Roebling Suspension Bridge, that may just strike your fancy if you’re the kind of person who likes eating a diverse selection of food—maybe even all in one meal outing.

They all reside on the street level of Covington's RiverCenter complex, sharing the address of 50 E Rivercenter Boulevard. The Embassy Suites by Hilton lies between the restaurants, and the offices inside RiverCenter Towers are stacked above them. You should stroll in to all three if you haven’t already.

The food block is one of a kind. It’s owned by Bill Butler, a prominent businessman in the area. He came up with original concepts for each of the restaurants. They opened their doors in 2017, sitting catty-corner to the Northern Kentucky Convention Center. They're surrounded by hotels, just a few blocks from popular Covington bars, and mere steps from the scenic banks of the Ohio River. As an added bonus, there’s free parking for patrons in a lot right across the street.

Now back to those tasty food spots I mentioned:

ADDRESS: 50 E Rivercenter Boulevard (41011)

Asian flavor meets Kentucky Southern flair at this bar and restaurant. Occupying the corner of Madison Avenue and East Rivercenter Boulevard, FIRE features a swanky, dimmed-light ambiance. But don’t let the upscale heat of FIRE keep you out of their kitchen; the bar and patio offer a much more casual atmosphere with live music on Friday and Saturday nights in the summer. If you’re looking for private dining, rooms are available for parties of 10-12, as well, through reservation.

Executive Chef Joe Kim cooks up fresh, dynamic cuisine every night, using inspirations from his home country of South Korea and incorporating them into American fare. The menu stays hot all year long, integrating new items with the season.

Mosey into their bourbon bar if you’re looking to try over 50 bourbon varieties. Even some of the dishes are infused with the popular spirit.

The restaurant has also received TripAdvisor’s Certificate of Excellence thanks to continual high ratings from guests.

Butler’s Pantry

ADDRESS: Same as the last one. Didn’t you read the beginning?

The convenient marketplace located in the lobby of the RiverCenter Towers is called Butler’s Pantry, and let’s just say I wish my own pantry was filled with the sweet goodies available there. The shop offers 14 flavors of Aglamesis Brothers ice cream, fresh-baked bread and pastries, local coffee varieties from Coffee Emporium, smoothies, and candies that are the cherry on top of an afternoon bite.

If you’re looking for something more on the savory side, check out their deli where you’ll find fresh salads, sandwiches, and specialty dips.

Butler’s Pantry is perfect to grab something for lunch or something to satisfy your sweet tooth—or maybe both, just to cover your bases.

Biscuits to Burgers

ADDRESS: Across the lobby from Butler’s Pantry

It’s an all-day breakfast place. It’s a customize-your-burger place. It’s Biscuits to Burgers.

When I say all-day breakfast, we’re not talking about a few, old, eggy options—I mean everything. Fresh omelets, pancakes, French toast...they got it all, all day long.

The burger side of the business lets you be the creator. Their build-your-own burger allows you to choose your protein (beef, veggie, fried and grilled chicken, or turkey), a cheese, up to three additional toppings, and then top (and bottom) it off with a selection of buns, which can be anything from a regular hamburger bun, to a lettuce wrap, challah bread, a biscuit, or even no bun at all. The burgabilities are endless.

Stop by the patio in the summer to enjoy your brunch or brinner with musical performances, a happy hour on weekdays from 12-7 PM, or even to scope it out to rent for your next event. They hold parties and receptions on the beautiful deck all the time.
