Oakley Artisan Roasters is a small-batch, custom roaster that aims to produce something that’s distinctly different, better, and more customer-centric than your run-of-the-mill mass coffee producers. Their promise to customers is what sets them apart and continues to be the foundation of their organization: “When you order coffee from us, you will be drinking it literally a few days after it has come out of the roaster,” says managing partner and roaster Tim Eckert. While they want the business to grow, they also strive to keep their customers at the center of what they do each day, always delivering a superior product experience. "We realized the big gap that exists in the local region for having a truly 'artisan' custom coffee roaster that develops coffee specific to a customer's desires, rather than just offering a boiler plate menu of six or seven coffees," Tim Eckert says. "You could call us a company of small batch, custom-roast coffee obsessives that started out as a wholesale provider of coffee and coffee services to local offices, retail coffee shops, churches, and a very small number of retailers." / Image: Krystalyn Hackett Photography // Published: 2.27.21
Oakley Artisan Roasters focuses first and foremost on the coffee-drinking experience and coffee development for customers. "Oakley Artisan Roasters is not just the typical coffee-in-a-bag company. We import the best beans we can obtain from responsible farms and importers, we do not cut corners or buy cheap goods, we have multiple channels of business from hot coffee to superior cold brew, and can meet the customer at whatever needs level they may require," Tim Eckert says. / Image: Elizabeth A. Brady Eckert manages the production of Oakley Artisan Roasters’ cold brew business and is known for being meticulous at developing cold brew coffee products for customers (such as UDF) that exceed company standards for artisan hot coffee production. / Image: Elizabeth A. Lowry // Published: 2.27.21

They currently bring in 13 different beans and roasts from regions like Africa, Central and South America, and Mexico. They currently roast, blend, and flavor more than 25 different varieties of hot coffee, plus they offer cold brew coffee varieties, as well. "Our push lately has been to source beans from farms that we know we can truly provide a positive financial contribution to. Just recently, we began a new relationship with a fair-trade farmer in Honduras that provides economic stability to an entire community through his model of sustainability, fair wage, and focus on growing and exporting high quality coffee," Tim Eckert says. "This aligns with our philosophy that it's just as important to do good as it is to be good.” / Image: Krystalyn Hackett Photography // Published: 2.27.21

Aside from shipping coffee out to customers across the United states on a weekly basis, they also help with fundraising and the delivery of over 700 bags of coffee to a local Boy Scout troop to support their activities and provide them with the economic resources to invest in their troop.{ }/ Image: Elizabeth A.
The wholesale company began in October of 2016 working out of a small, 1,600-square-foot building in Oakley on the corner of Robertson and 34th avenue. Four years later, they moved to their current residence down the street with a whopping 6,400 square feet of space. Now they’re able to take a truly custom and artisan approach to coffee that focuses on days of freshness from production to delivery versus a month or more from production to the customer. / Image: Krystalyn Hackett Photography // Published: 2.27.21

Two of the three owners of Oakley Artisan Roasters came together through a mix of fate and shared passion for the best coffee and coffee-drinking experience. Tim Eckert was already working in the coffee roasting and custom coffee production industry and was formally educated in custom roasting for flavor extraction, tasting, and coffee profile development. Joe Krimmer spent 32 years in retail and wholesale distribution management and marketing as an executive at a global level and fell in love with the high-quality coffees that Tim was creating. Beth Thress is the third majority owner.{ }/ Image: Elizabeth A. Lowry // Published: 2.27.21
