When you have something that works, you should build upon it, right? That’s what the owners of Huit Craft BBQ decided. Having outgrown the space at 29 E. Court Street in less than two years since its opening, they embarked to find a bigger one. They found it ("it" being Neuf) at the former Dynasty Chinese restaurant, less than half a mile away.
(Although, please note, Huit — now called Lalo — remains. More on that later.)
Neuf, which means “nine” in French, focuses on Asian food, with a particular eye on sauces. The menu is expansive. Offerings include dumplings, wings, soups, noodles, and rice dishes. Want a more specific feel for the vibe? Let's go with Asian soul food. Yeah, you can dig it.
My foodie pick: The dumpling ramen ... It might be a stretch to say you want to catch a cold just so you can eat this to bring you back to life. But IT IS that good.
Oh, and about Huit... so, it’s actually transformed to Lalo (and been open, under that new name, for a couple of weeks now). The concept is Chino-Latino. We’ll have to try that next. For now, though, we’re too consumed with Neuf.
