Amid closures, many people have less access to a nutritious and balanced diet. Thankfully, small restaurants, warehouses, and other culinary spots have stepped up to help. O Pie O is one such local business doing just that and feeding school-aged children. / Image: Kellie Coleman // Published: 4.5.20

Their baking warehouse in Lower Price Hill has been transformed into a goal-driven center to feed kids in need. O Pie O is donating a small nutritional food pack made up of an entrée (a hand pie, sandwich wrap, etc.), a piece of fruit (an apple or an orange), a bag of Hen of The Woods potato chips, and dessert (either a cookie or a slice of O Pie O). / Image: Kellie Coleman // Published: 4.5.20
What started off as a small drive serving around 25 lunches quickly grew to 1000 and counting with the help of volunteers and donations. You can find the pre-packaged meals being distributed at 4220 Glenway Avenue in a tent across from the Walgreens on Monday through Friday from 11 AM until they run out. At Roberts Paideia Academy (1702 Grand Avenue) in West Price Hill, 50 to 100 lunches will be dispersed on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Volunteers with Finneytown Local Schools will be delivering lunches to homes on Tuesdays, as well. Some kid meals are also being distributed from their restaurant in East Walnut Hills on Tuesday through Friday from 11 AM to 12 PM. The O Pie O crew is excited to help families in need for as long as necessary. / Image: Kellie Coleman // Published: 4.5.20

You can donate money on their website (opieo.com/kids-meal-donation/donate) which goes directly towards the cost of filling the meal packages. Every $5 pays for a boxed lunch. Any leftover proceeds once the program is finished will be donated to a school lunch charity. You can also volunteer to distribute the food. Contact O Pie O via email at cincyopieo@gmail.com to get more information on how to get involved. / Image: Kellie Coleman // Published: 4.5.20
