Kaze (pronounced kah-zay) received a makeover after being purchased by the Thunderdome Group this year. The formerly upscale Japanese restaurant now takes a more casual approach to its menu, offering a variety of shareable plates in a laid-back atmosphere. Aesthetically, some of the interior alterations include new lighting fixtures and furniture, reupholstered booths, and a change of wallpaper. The restaurant’s bar is now an entity of its own called 36 Chambers. The name is lightly inspired by the Wu-Tang Clan’s debut album “Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers).” It also takes inspiration from the kung fu movie “The 36th Chamber of Shaolin” and the history behind the fighting Shaolin monks. The bar will have a hip hop vibe and feature various DJs. / Image: Catherine Viox // Published: 9.9.19
