Canteen Bakery is known for its brownies, cakes, and cream pies. The bakery’s treats drive a hard bargain for the senses; they look delicious, they smell delicious, and — yep, you guessed it — they are delicious. Even on a diet, it's hard to say no to a one-two punch of pâtisserie perfection like that.
And really, who wouldn’t want deliciousness in his/her life? ... Exactly!
Angie Phillips, the founder, likes to think her mature palate began at a young age, but she humbly admits Little Debbie Oatmeal Cream Pies were about as sophisticated as she got. Luckily for us, her lifelong dream to open a bakery drove her passion.
And that's because she's a firm believer that the best things in life come in their most organic form – people, nature, and food.
When she graduated from college, Angie used her Ashland University business degree to pre-heat the proverbial oven for her own endeavor. So that's how Canteen Bakery, with a mission to create organic, small batch sweets to “bless people with good food” was born.
A RECIPE FOR GREATNESS
The bakery uses locally-sourced ingredients whenever it can, and its desserts are made with good coffee and company in mind.
The Butterscotch Whiskey Cake is among Canteen’s best-selling products, but the real money-maker is its Oatmeal Cream Pie. As one faithful customer put it, Angie “created the cream pie that kicked Little Debbie’s you-know-what.”
