Switch Lighting & Design, the lighting store known best for its storefront on Vine Street in the Gateway Quarter of Over-the-Rhine, is expanding. While its OTR digs will remain, Switch is moving on up in the world, taking over a building on 4th street Downtown. And it's clear it isn’t just a copy n' paste job of what’s already in existence. It’s the logical evolution from boutique lighting store to must-see elegant home furnishing retailer.
Switch’s new four-story building, which is actually an old building repurposed to house their business, will host a variety of content exclusive to this larger location.
While the first floor is nearly complete, there's still plenty of work to be done.
The first two floors are dedicated to the incredibly beautiful showroom. We’re talking full bedroom sets decked out in Switch’s hand-picked lighting and furniture. After a visit here, it's entirely possible your current bedroom set will start to feel inadequate. Yes, that's to be expected.
The third floor is planned as an office/workspace. (Well, hello there, high-end Bosch appliances. Don't mind if I do.)
Finally, the fourth floor will be a luxury apartment, furnished with Switch’s own catalog. An elevator opens directly into the unit for convenience. (Sorry, I already put my deposit down. Kidding. ... I wish. But if you have real money like I have Monopoly money, it could actually be yours.) The apartment is available to the general public.
And, by golly, you can! Switch’s opening reception is Saturday, September 10 from 6-9 p.m. But per chance you can't make it to the opening (and/or want to get a sneak peek at what you'll be seeing), scroll back to the top and peruse our photo gallery.
