Rivertown Inkery & Apparel is a local art and apparel store that has been around since 2013. They design clothing and art pieces that pay tribute to aspects of Cincinnati, which they previously only sold in pop-ups at local events like the City Flea, at shops around town like Joseph-Beth Booksellers, and online. They now have a brick-and-mortar storefront in Oakley. ADDRESS: 3096 Madison Road, Suite 1W (45209) / Image courtesy of Rivertown Inkery // Published: 3.6.19

Rivertown Inkery's Storefront Is a Welcome, Trendy Addition to Oakley

Chances are you’ve seen at least a few of Rivertown Inkery & Apparel’s shirts modeled around town and wondered where to nab one for yourself. Up until a few months ago, your options included picking one up at an event like City Flea, from a local partner like Joseph Beth, or hopping online to find one. Well, now it’s even easier to find cool Cincinnati gear since Rivertown Inkery moved into their fresh new Oakley digs.

Rivertown Inkery’s new storefront on Madison Road next to Sleepy Bee is the perfect place to find new clothing and trendy wall art. The clean-cut shop adds a touch of modern style to its predominately nostalgia-infused clothing line. There’s plenty to browse while waiting for your brunch table next door.

A staple that puts Rivertown Inkery on the local apparel map is their best-selling “Cincy is for Dreamers” shirt—a grey shirt with stylized black text above the silhouette of a flying pig. An ever-changing lineup of clothing and prints that range in style from simple and modern to 80s/90s pop and far-out 70s swag keep the store fresh for repeat customers. Nearly every bit of Rivertown’s merchandise is homage to Cincinnati.

In addition to ready-made items, they produce custom apparel for local businesses, non-profits, and even do personal t-shirt requests for customers, which can be ordered through their website. No matter which design you choose, it’s bound to become your favorite piece of clothing as they produce some of the softest tees and sweatshirts in town. My sweatshirt from Rivertown Inkery & Apparel is hands-down my most-worn winter item.

Owner Doug Burns saw the move to the Oakley storefront as just one more way to make his Cincinnati-themed creations more accessible. It’s also the next step for making their customers’ shopping experiences better. Now folks can try on any item before making the purchase, and customers who pick up their apparel sold at local events will have a physical place to return items that require size exchanges, too.

What started as a little dream in Burns’ basement has progressed into a welcome, trendy addition to the Oakley retail scene.
