Reusch - Observatory and Alms-1-1.jpg
The redone space features completely custom cabinets (local, Amish-made), in the palest shade of icy blue-green, with warm handmade brass hardware from Bona. The classic backsplash tile was made by Fireclay. Above the farmhouse sink hangs a custom brass shelving unit from local makers, MetalCraft. This was all finished with beach-inspired touches of rattan and wicker furnishings, beautiful floral print wallpaper by Galbraith & Paul, lots of live plants and flowers, and a simple, elegant chandelier over the dining table that looks as if it were made of sea glass, and in a way it is; it’s crafted from recycled bottles. / Image: Christopher Farr, courtesy of Reusch Interior Design // Published: 12.2.19

Reusch Interior Design Redid This Kitchen/Bathroom Combo With Colorful Results

Reusch Interior Design, based in Hyde Park, does gorgeous work. You may remember the feature we did on them last year. They’ve struck design gold again with a stunning kitchen and bath remodel in Hyde Park.

Tired of “white box” kitchens? You will not find that here. Laney Reusch, principal designer at Reusch Interior Design, took a plain, white-tiled, white-cabinet, solid color-walled kitchen and dining room and utterly transformed it. This was all finished with beach-inspired touches of rattan and wicker furnishings, beautiful floral print wallpaper by Galbraith & Paul, lots of live plants and flowers, and a simple, elegant chandelier over the dining table that looks as if it were made of sea glass, and in a way it is—it’s crafted from recycled bottles.

Reusch also redid the house’s powder room and bathroom and true to form, they’re gorgeous. A Laney Reusch design trademark is wallpaper that pops, and that is certainly true of these rooms. This client owns a floral shop, and her love of flowers comes through in the wallpaper choices here, as well as the color palettes. The vibrant floral print of the wallpaper in the bath against a backdrop of classic white tile makes the room a true showstopper. The bird-print wallpaper in the powder room is charming and enlivens this smaller space without being overpowering.

“We always try to keep the character of the house,” Reusch says of her work, “while making things functional and, of course, beautiful!”

Check out the gallery above to see these gorgeously redesigned rooms.
