Photos: These Glass Artists Do Magical Things

Neusole Glassworks is tucked away on a Forest Park cul-de-sac, flanked by trees adorned with bright glass ornaments.

A 501(c)(3) not-for-profit, private operating foundation, Neusole is open to the public for educational programs. It can also be rented by glass artists looking for affordable access to studio space and equipment.

Even with the shop's 100-degree atmosphere, watching flaming-hot glass morph into brand-new shapes is a mesmerizing (borderline-magical) experience.

After graduating from the Cleveland Institute of Art and starting out as a studio artist, Logan Brooks assumed the role of Studio Manager at Neusole. He appreciates the focus and clarity he gains as both an educator and an artist. Current personal projects include conch shells and Fabergé -style eggs.

Studio artist J.C. Keller is diligently creating thousands of glass orbs via the process of lampworking, which utilizes a small torch to manipulate glass. The orbs will ultimately be formed into a chandelier.

Looking for a unique gift? Neusole's artists sell some of their creations in the gift shop. Or check out the studio's gallery space to see work by both local and international artists (most recently Doni Katz and Richard Royal).

Feel like you might be getting the bug? Try your hand at glass working with one of Neusole's many classes.
