The bright colors, bold shapes, and whimsical style of Laura Brooks’ art encapsulate the persona of her one-woman brand, Ellebrux (a play on her name). Laura started her jewelry and fine art company in 2012 after graduating from Ohio University with a BFA in painting. After working for a few years in galleries and museums, she decided to elevate her creative side hustle to her full-time hustle. / Image: Melissa Sliney // Published: 3.26.20
90s nostalgia resonates within the Ellebrux line, whether it’s in the smiley face earrings or her rich color palette. Aside from playful colors and callbacks to the decade, Ellebrux jewelry and paintings source inspiration from nature. “I've always loved learning about plants, animals, and the natural world,” she says, and her fondness for nature was evident throughout her childhood. “I want to return to a place of genuine joy with my art.” Laura says her current goal for the brand is to dive deeper into these personal influences and refocus on hand-painted elements. / Image: Melissa Sliney // Published: 3.26.20
