Following three years of construction, the Cincinnati Museum Center's 'Cincinnati in Motion' exhibit makes its way back to the Cincinnati wing of Union Terminal. The downtown area of the nation's largest full-motion urban diorama has been cleaned, updated, and reconstructed in its original location. The miniature city depicts a 1940s version of Cincinnati, and features prominent local icons such as Roebling Bridge, Carew Tower, Taft Museum, and many others. Miniature streetcars buzz about the city during a looping night and day sequence that alters the appearance of the city as visitors observe it. Also returning to the museum is the limestone cave, which is modeled after caves found in the Midwest. Two different paths offer both an easy route and a more challenging route, allowing spelunkers to enjoy all 500 feet of artificial cave. The easier route is wheelchair accessible. Small displays inside and outside of the cave depict such things as x-ray scans of a mummy's sarcophagus, cave-dwelling creatures, and a Sumatran rhinoceros called Ipuh. The cave opens March 22. / Image: Phil Armstrong, Cincinnati Refined // Published: 3.22.19
