The Macy’s Arts Sampler really couldn’t come at a better time. The cold days of winter are upon us, and nothing lifts the spirit like a little community-oriented art.
The mission of the Macy’s Arts Sampler: to bring free arts experiences to schools, theaters, community centers, parks, museums, and libraries around Greater Cincinnati. It’s a celebration of the city as much as a celebration of the arts, and it’s the perfect way to spend one of these cold February days.
Saturday, February 18 will see artists take to the communities for displays of music, dance, theatre and visual art. The focus will shift downtown on Sunday, February 19 for events featuring the NKU Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Cincinnati Ballet Second Company and many other special guests. The 2017 Macy’s Arts Sampler will come to a close that Sunday evening at the Taft Theatre, where The Children’s Theatre will perform highlights from The Wizard of Oz.
Check out the full schedule of events here, then grab the kids or a few friends and say hello to the arts!
If you’re a Greater Cincinnati resident, ArtsWave is hard to ignore. You’ve probably heard its name on WVXU or seen it on signage around town. As to what the enormously successful nonprofit actually does, well, they do awesome things like this.
But the interesting thing isn’t really what they do, it’s how successful they are at doing it. ArtsWave’s community campaign is the largest in the nation in total contributions and number of donors. The majority of contributions to the campaign are individual gifts of fewer than $150.
Those funds go to 100+ organizations in the Cincinnati community. And with every dollar they reinvest, our city becomes that much more extraordinary to residents and visitors.
