Homeowners Mandy & Aaron Lehman are the co-founders of the graphic design and photography company MANMAN Studios. They’ve done projects for Fortune 500 companies as well as small businesses and non-profits alike. After moving into a 3-bed, 2.5-bath fixer upper in Dayton, KY that dates back to 1890, Mandy decided to create an Instagram account for the home (which they nicknamed ‘The 1890 Bricky House’) to document the process of the renovation. You can find it under the name @the1890brickyhouse. Interior design requests soon flooded their inboxes. Since completion, the house has been featured on HOUZZ.com and Arhaus’ social media, and it’s even been rented out as a set for photoshoots and films. / Image: Catherine Viox // Published: 10.13.19
The Lehmans are huge supporters of local businesses, start-ups, and artists. Much of the art featured in the home was made by Cincinnati artists as well as other creators from around the country. Inside, you’ll see tiny trinkets and hand-made chandeliers. The furniture was purchased from places such as Elm & Iron in Over-the-Rhine, Building Value in Northside, antique shops, and bigger markets like Etsy, Arhaus, Restoration Hardware, and Anthropologie. / Image: Catherine Viox // Published: 10.13.19

The home was built by a doctor in 1890. He practiced his medicine out of the home during the time he owned it. The home went on to become a multi-family home over the years. The property had been abandoned before Mandy & Aaron purchased it. The historical details, like the window trim, brick walls and beams, fireplaces, and molding were preserved during their remodel. / Image: Catherine Viox // Published: 10.13.19

Discovering the loft was a very memorable moment of the rehab for the Lehmans. When they bought the house, the space was covered with a drop ceiling, so they had no clue all of the additional square footage was up there. / Image: Catherine Viox // Published: 10.13.19

Dayton, KY was the couple’s neighborhood of choice because of the growing community of artists, entrepreneurs, and musicians there. Bricky House offered enough space for hosting guests, had a close proximity to Downtown Cincinnati, and had a separate unit to rent out, all of which were important features they could check off their home wish list. The unit on the top floor is available to rent through Airbnb. / Image: Catherine Viox // Published: 10.13.19
