In the heart of Tiffin, Ohio, is Simply Susan's, a unique boutique offering fine chocolates and candy, apparel, accessories, Luca & Dani Jewelry, engraving, home decor, gifts, and more.
Simply Susan's was started in September 2014 by Susan Wilkinson, who prides herself on being a welcoming above all.
"Our customers are part of our family," says Wilkinson. "We love our customers and want to give the best shopping experience they have ever had."
Since first opening their doors seven years ago, Simply Susan's has grown from a small brick-and-mortar store to a booming business with shows and an online store.
"Each new growth is from the drive to keep our actual small brick-and-mortar doors open," says Wilkinson.
When asked what her best sellers are at Simply Susan's, Wilkinson laughs and says, "Gnomes, gnomes, gnomes. Honestly, we have a great variety, which is what has kept us going. But we have home decor, florals, candles, apparel, and so much more."
Wilkinson says if she had to choose a current favorite of her own from the shop, she would go with florals. "I’m the flower queen in our store," she says.
Wilkinson maintains the focus on the customer when it comes to running her store. "We are an experience, not just a place to shop," she adds.
And in the last year, providing an alternate experience to shopping in-person has really changed her business model. Since the onset of the pandemic, Wilkinson says that she's put a lot of effort into building her online store and hosting weekly Monday evening Facebook live shows.
Now that events are returning, Simply Susan's will be in attendance at the upcoming Vintage Market Days of Dayton-Cincinnati April 16-18. "Our booth theme this year is the Flower Store," says Wilkinson. "It's going to be amazing!"
Wilkinson says she enjoys attending Vintage Market Days events and has done as many as eight in a year. She says that the most enjoyable thing about attending Vintage Market Days events is the unique and relaxed vintage vibes they all have to offer.
